Experiment in Shoreline Regeneration!

One of your longtime members, and Past President, Grant Walsh, has applied the approach suggested by the Mutual Association for Protection of Lake Environments in Ontario (MAPLE) to regenerate his shoreline. Grant decided to stop mowing the lawn on the shoreline and let things grow naturally. What is going to grow there? This started a period of discovery. After 3 years and A LOT OF EFFORT (just kidding, he really did nothing), here is what magically appeared on the beach: Canada anemone, Spotted Joe-Pye Weed, Turtlehead, Spotted Touch-Me-Not, Aquatic mint, and many other shrubs.

Try it! You too will be amazed with the results and you will have more time to enjoy yourself.

VORR Initiative

We are working with the municipality and the wakeboard community to find solutions to the negative impact wakesurfing is having on shoreline erosion and damage to docks.

Let’s Clean Up!

Every spring and summer, dead trees, branches and debris can be found floating on the water. Please take time to remove them from the water if you can, as they can pose a safety hazard to boaters and swimmers.

Sometimes we also find docks, kayaks and canoes floating freely on the lake. If you see any of these, please secure them if you can, take a photo, and send it to us at info@lacstpierre.ca so we can alert members who may have lost them.
