The Lac St-Pierre Association board members, Susan and Mirelle (a.k.a. LSP Water Sampling Crew) take care of obtaining samples of Lac St-Pierre’s water for participation in the Municipality of Val-des-Monts Water Quality Monitoring Program. This program is coordinated the biologist employed by the municipality. Participation in this program enables adequate monitoring of water quality in 47 lakes throughout Val-des-Monts. All members of our crew have taken the mandatory sampling technique and methods course provided by the municipality.

Each sampling season includes water sampling three times per year, once per month in June, July and August. The municipality provides a sampling kit bottles for total phosphorus, chlorophyll A and dissolved oxygen analysis, as well as a Secchi disk for measuring water transparency. The LSP Water Sampling Crew heads out onto the lake and obtains samples from three parts of the lake and then drops the kit off at City Hall to be sent to the lab for analysis. So, if you see ladies in a boat in the deepest parts of a bay, looking like they might just about fall in the water with a rope, don’t mind them. Move along!
